Stella Crispo was born Maria Stella Crispo to Italian immigrants in Hoboken, NJ. She grew up listening to everything from Mozart to Queen and at age 6 began piano lessons already convinced that she was going to be a musician. Stella graduated from Manhattan School of Music Prep in NY, attended Westminster Choir College in Princeton and completed her undergraduate degree in Classical Voice using it all to boost her pop and rock singing. Her coaches include Kathy Olsen, Paul Gavert and Patricia Carey, Mariah’s mother. Stella’s career has taken her from performing in high-profile bands to recording jingles to appearing in off-Broadway’s ‘Tony ‘n’ Tina’s Wedding.’ She has performed at venues like B.B. King’s and Newark, NJ’s Performing Arts Center several times and sings regularly throughout the New York City area. Stella is also a performer of the National Anthem at Prudential Center in Newark, NJ.
Songwriting started at an early age when Stella wrote her first song, ‘Come Sail Away With Me,’ with a middle school friend. She continued writing throughout high school and college. Invited by an agent in Brescia, Italy to participate in the San Remo Music Festival, Stella received rave reviews for the performance of one of her original songs ‘Dream Come True’ that took her through the many rounds of the festival and landed her among the top remaining contestants which is unheard of for a competition solely of Italian music.
One of her other tracks, ‘Finally,’ has been frequently used as a wedding song. Open to writing for important causes, Stella was asked by international artist Philippe Valy to write the anthem for an anti-smoking campaign. ‘Day After Day’ was completed shortly after. Stella’s current library includes ‘Out of the Rain,’ a country crossover ballad and 'Best Christmas,’ dedicated to those whose family is coming home for the holidays. Her follow-up is ‘Face to Face’ inspired by how we hide behind our cell phones even to break up a relationship. 'All of Me (I Give to You)' and 'We Are Your Light' are due out soon!
Stella’s talent, heart, drive and dedication are what have touched her audiences until now and what will continue to attract audiences in her future.
